Richard Montgomery High School will be closed for spring break Monday, April 14 - Monday, April 21, 2025. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 @ 7:45 a.m.

MCAP Testing 

In accordance with Maryland State Department of Education mandates, students are required to take the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) assessments to fulfill graduation requirements. During the Spring Testing window, from April 7th to May 23rd, students who have completed the courses but not the assessments will take exams in Algebra 1, English 10 (ELA), Biology, and NSL Government.

Please be aware that we will have modified schedules on April 8, 9 and May 8.  

  • Tuesday, April 8 English 10 (Sections 1 & 2) *
  • Wednesday, April 9 English 10 (Sections 3 & 4) *
  • Tuesday, April 29, Thursday, May 1st, Friday, May 2nd Algebra 1
  • Thursday, May 8 Life Science Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA)
  • Thursday, May 8 National State Local (NSL) Government *

Students required to test or currently eligible to test will report directly to their assigned testing location by 7:45 AM and remain there for the duration of the test. Makeup testing will occur following the Spring Break and continue through the end of the testing window.

Important Reminders:

  • Students and families of those that are required to test during the Winter testing window, will be contacted individually
  • Ensure your child arrives on time on their assigned date.
  • Students taking the test should bring headphones (if available) and sharpened pencils.
  • Students must bring a charged MCPS Chromebook and charger.
  • Headphones will be provided, if needed and no earbuds are allowed

Prom 2025

Ticket sales:

  • Ticket sales will be sold April 30 - May 9 (or until sold out)
  • Seniors only will have the first 3 days of ticket sales and then Juniors may start to purchase tickets on the 4th day (May 5th). On May 1st we will be selling tickets after school from 2:45 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. to help those who are taking AP/IB tests and are unable to come during lunch.
  • All ticket sales will be in-person during lunchtime in the gym. We will only be accepting cash or checks. 
  • In order to purchase a ticket all school obligations must be paid.
  • All students that go to RM must be present to purchase their ticket, even if another student is paying for their ticket, they still need to be present.

Seniors Only

 If you are bringing an outside guest: Outside Guest Permission Slip

  • You must fill out the outside guest form. Please allow time to get this done as it may take a couple of days
  • Attach a copy of their ID (high school ID or state issued ID if no longer in high school) to the outside guest form, no ID no ticket
  • There is a maximum of two tickets per student (one outside guest)
  • No guest may be 21 or over 
  • Only Seniors are able to bring outside guests

  • Richard Montgomery's administrative team held grade level town hall meetings to set the tone for the school year.   • Applications for Free & Reduced-Price Meals (FARMS) are now available for the new school year online. Apply online NOW so students receive free meals on the first day of school! This is the fastest way to get your meal benefits when school starts and avoid long processing times. MCPS encourages all families who may be eligible, to apply. To receive this benefit, a new FARMS application must be completed every school year. Fill out your application now at: www.MySchoolApps.com
  • Maryland State requires students receive vaccinations on a schedule deteremind by the CDC in order to attend preschool programs and schools. Students may be exempt from these requirements if a healthcare provider states that the vaccinations are medically contradicted or for religious objections. Families can use the following link to view the 2024-2025 Vaccination Requirements from the state as well as vaccination clinics in the county.

  • Make sure to check Ms. Deeny's Friday RMHS weekly newsletter for important updates. Parents should be checking their email for school updates. The RMHS Weekly Update is sent out Friday evenings to parents and posted to Canvas for students. You can find archived newsletters here.
  • Understand the different emergency preparedness responses that MCPS uses (shelter in place, lockdown, etc.) as well important system wide emergency management phone numbers on the Department of Safety and Security website
  • Need to add money to your students lunch account? Use the meal payments link to find out how to apply for free & reduced lunch, add money to your students SNAP account, and other important food and nutrition information.
