National Honor Society Programs & Activities

The National Honor Society at Poolesville High School is offering free tutoring to all students! Whether you need help preparing for a test, understanding a tricky concept, or improving your study skills, our NHS tutors are ready to help.

📚 Subjects: All core classes and many electives
🕒 When: During lunch and after school 
📍 Where: In the media center or Hubs

Candidate Application

2026-2027 National Honor Society Application

The Poolesville High School chapter of the National Honor Society encourages current sophomores and juniors who meet the criteria below to submit an application (Linked HERE) to join the honor society.  Applications are currently open and will close on Friday, May 29th at 11:59pm.  Late applications will not be considered.  

In order to apply, students must meet the following criteria:

  1. Current 10th or 11th grade student at PHS
  2. Cumulative unweighted grade point average of at least 3.6 OR a cumulative weighted grade point average of at least 4.2 at of the end of quarter 4 of the 2025-2026 school year
  3. Minimum number of 60 student service-learning hours documented with the school's SSL coordinator at the end of quarter 4 of the 2025-2026 school year.

In order to be selected for membership, you must also have evidence of excellence in all four pillars of the National Honor Society: character, leadership, scholarship, and service.  If selected for membership, members must maintain the GPA requirement above along with completing monthly service projects with NHS. 

All interested students should complete the application below for consideration for membership.  To view and complete the form, you must be logged into your school account.  If you are currently a member in good standing, you do not need to apply again.  If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Gum, NHS advisor, at leslie_gum@mcpsmd.org or stop by Room 1513 during lunch.
