Mrs. Stephanie Nesmith, Principal It is with great enthusiasm that I lead as your principal. I look forward to working alongside you, building strong relationships, and collaborating to ensure the academic and personal success of all our students. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from Talladega College and a master’s degree in Counseling Education from Florida A&M University. I received a Certificate of Administration and Supervision from McDaniel College, and have also completed 63 hours of doctoral-level coursework earning an Advanced Graduate Specialist Certificate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park where my research included the study of restorative justice practices and its impact on student achievement. This marks my 25th year as an educator, having proudly served as a middle school math teacher, high school math teacher, high school counselor and resource counselor, middle school assistant principal, and most recently, elementary school principal. Returning to middle school brings me great joy, especially in a school community that holds a special place in my heart. My daughter attended elementary through high school in the NEC and is a proud graduate of Briggs Chaney Middle School. You will find that I am a passionate educator who embraces each day with eagerness and an open heart. My commitment remains steadfast to providing a quality education in an environment where ALL students can reach their full potential. My journey has always been led by my desire to make a difference and inspire students to perform at their highest level. I stand ready each day to impact those who matter the most -OUR STUDENTS.

Mr. Shane Warner has been an educator for 10 years. He was raised in Rockland County, New York and graduated from North Rockland High School. Mr. Warner went on to Binghamton University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History and played 4 years of Division 1 lacrosse. He later attended McDaniel College to obtain his Master’s Degree in Secondary Education with a focus on Social Studies, while coaching their intercollegiate lacrosse team. In 2022, Mr. Warner completed his Master’s Degree in Administration & Supervision from the University of Virginia. Prior to becoming an administrator, Mr. Warner was a Special Education and Social Studies Teacher at McLean High School in Fairfax County Public Schools for 8 years. Mr. Warner is married with two sons and is a proud resident of Silver Spring, Maryland. Mr. Warner is passionate about providing ALL students at Briggs Chaney the access and opportunity to be successful in the classroom and in the community. Mr. Warner believes that through inclusion, rigor, and relationships, we can build a strong and accepting learning environment at Briggs Chaney. |
Mrs. Kimberly Bell has been an educator for 27 years. She is a native Washingtonian. Mrs. Bell graduated from Montgomery Blair High School. Mrs. Bell received a Bachelor’s Degree in English/ Secondary Education from Hampton University; and a Master’s Degree in Administration & Supervision from Bowie State University. Prior to becoming an administrator, Mrs. Bell taught English at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School and Redland Middle School. Mrs. Bell was also an Academic Intervention Teacher at Broad Acres Elementary School. Mrs. Bell started her administrative career in York County, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Bell is married with two children and is a proud Montgomery County resident. Mrs. Bell is thrilled to serve at Briggs Chaney Middle School. Mrs. Bell’s core values are accountability, integrity, and transparency. She hopes that those core values are conveyed in her leadership and in her support of the Briggs Chaney Middle School community. |
Mr. Kenneth Alford, Jr. has been an educator for over 20 years. More than half of those years have been in MCPS. He was raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and graduated from Bladensburg High School. Mr. Alford went on to Morgan State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. He later attended Hood College to obtain his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Prior to becoming an administrator, Mr. Alford was the Math Resource Teacher at Albert Einstein High School in MCPS for 7 years. Mr. Alford is married with three children and is as passionate about the preparation, growth, and success of the Briggs Chaney Middle School students as he is with his own children. Mr. Alford believes that through mutual respect, a nurturing environment that cultivates relationships, and striving for continued academic and social growth, all young people can reach their full potential with support. |
