Edison Students Donate Computer Lab to the Prathertown Community Development Corporation
The Network Operations program of the Montgomery County Students Information Technology Foundation, Inc. (ITF) held its annual computer lab gifting ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 20 at Thomas Edison High School of Technology.
This year’s recipient is the Prathertown Community Development Corporation (Prathertown CDC), a nonprofit agency dedicated to supporting neighbors in underserved areas, especially those without access to public transit or safe sidewalks.
The donation will help Prathertown expand digital literacy, job readiness training and community education for residents in underserved areas. The donation includes: six refurbished computers complete with operating systems, monitors, keyboards, mice and a printer.
The project provided Edison students with valuable hands-on IT experience, allowing them to apply real-world skills while giving back to the community.
The ITF is a nonprofit organization established cooperatively by the Montgomery County business community and Montgomery County Public Schools to provide a unique method of training high school students for skilled positions in the IT field: a student-run computer sales business. Students are introduced to potential employers with available positions in technical service, customer service, sales and management.
