The SMOB is an elected official who can vote on issues like administrative appointments (including hiring of the Superintendent of Schools), policy, and the Board of Education's legislative platform.
The SLA has been reformatted to bring together a cohort of 10th grade students representing each high school across MCPS to participate in a unique, two-year learning experience. The academy serves to help students develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills as they share their student voice on school system initiatives.
MoCo EmpowHer provides leadership development opportunities for young women, opportunities for female leaders to explore various career options, and advocacy networks for female leaders.
This club/organization is inclusive of all students regardless of sex or gender identity.
Student pages are selected each year from across the State to represent their schools and counties in Annapolis. Each selected page will serve two nonconsecutive weeks in either the State Senate or the House of Delegates.
MoCo Pride Youth was founded in 2019 by a group of high school and middle school students that attend schools across Montgomery County and serves as a home to connect, learn and advocate for the LGBTQ+ student community.
MCPS has partnered with PeaceJam Mid-Atlantic to provide an application-only leadership development and service-oriented program for high school students across the district! This program is designed to create young leaders committed to positive change in themselves, their communities, and the world through the inspiration of 14 Nobel Peace Laureates who pass on the spirit, skills, and wisdom they embody.
